To open the Windy layer, click the “Windy” tab at the top of the map page. This layer overlays detailed weather data on the map, provided by the premium Windy service. Positions of participants, as well as features such as routes and checkpoints, are also shown. The default data displayed is the wind forecast, but there are numerous other options to explore.
Changing Forecast layers
To switch Windy layer to explore another forecast, click the menu in the top right and select from the list of available layers – ranging from new snowfall to cloud cover. Because all our maps use Windy Premium, these layers include the highest level of detail.
Exploring Forecast Timeline
To see how the forecast changes over time, you can use the timeline at the bottom of the page. Click the play button to watch the forecast change over time or drag to timeline to a specific point in time.
Drop a Pin
To see what conditions are like at a given position on the map, simply click to drop a pin. Depending on the layer you have selected, Windy will display various different metrics.
